35 Come on and take a chance on me StarsBook four in Laura Trentham’s Cottonbloom series sees the introduction of the Abbott Brothers and their Garage Restoration businessI am a huge fan of all things Trentham from the Falcon Football days and all the way through the Cottonbloom series Leave The Night On although a decent read fell a little short on my expectations She was Southern femininity and grace And he was a grease monkey I think my main issue was the fact that Sutton and Wyatt’s relationship wasn’t as well balanced as previous couples in this series have been I don’t mean because of their difference in social stature in the Cottombloom hierarchy so much as the fact that what starts out as a ‘fauxmance’ and then develops into seemed to be all on Wyatt’s part bearing in mind Sutton is the one who lied and expects him to play along with the charade the way she treated him at points thereafter really grated on my nerves I think this was exacerbated by the fact that Wyatt is a classic Laura Trentham male sweet caring and willing to do anything for his woman Sutton abused that amicability several times and pretty much every time I started to warm a little to her she went and did it again I’ll be honest I thought it would be the ex drama that would be a problem for me with this one and it actually turned out to be the characterizationI knew going into this I would never be than her reboundThat said I still pretty much read the book in one sitting the brothers all get a little page time so you know who's who and what they are about as well The little teases for Willa and Jackson were there to keep me invested in the series as a whole too and I cannot wait to get my hands on their book; When the Stars Come Out which sadly isn’t due for release until January 2018ARC generously provided via Netgalley in exchange for the above honest review

4 Charming StarsSutton Mize thought her life was all planned out Get married to her longtime family friend turned fiancé run her small town Mississippi clothing boutiue and pop out some kids Life was goodThat plan gets a swift kick in the butt when her bff's undies are found under the seat of her fiancé's car The only thing worse than suffering that revelation is having it happen in front of Wyatt AbbottWyatt had always been attracted to Sutton as a teenager but the two had never run in the same social circles When Sutton hires his auto shop to fix up her fiancé's classic camaro that spark is still there Agreeing to spend a few weeks playing Sutton's new boyfriend while she saves face seems like the perfect way for them both to get what they wantI picked this book up at just the right time I was looking for a well written light contemporary romance with a strong story Luckily that's just what I got Laura Trentham does an outstanding job of laying the foundation for this slow burning southern love story both with vivid descriptions and collouial references It all worked for meSutton and Wyatt could've been the stereotypical prissy girlrough around the edges guy kind of love story we've all seen a thousand times To an extent it was The characters and the way they evolved for the better both individually and together set this one apart from most I enjoyed the smokin' bits to Wyatt and Sutton's story and the slow burn feel upped the heat for me but I wasn't always feeling the chemistry between the twoLaura Trentham is a new to me author I'm definitely putting on my future read list More stories from Cottonbloom can only be a good thing ARC provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

Sutton Mize was wanting to do something special for her fiancee before their upcoming wedding so after tossing around ideas she decides to take his Camaro in to be restored After arriving at the shop ran by Wyatt Abbott Sutton has the unthinkable happen to an upcoming bride a pair of underwear are found under the seat of the car Sutton knows right away being that they are a specialty order from her own boutiue who they belong to her own best friend Wyatt agrees to give Sutton a ride home so that she can have some time to think about what to do with what she has found out While confronting her fiancee Sutton finds herself hurt but not heartbroken to find out that he has been using her friend as much as he seems to be using her too Ending the engagement Sutton also tries to save a bit of dignity by telling him she had her own affair with Wyatt Now to only get Wyatt to agree to pretending to be in a relationship for awhile Leave the Night On is the fourth book in the Cottonbloom series by Laura Trentham I didn't realize this was even a series when I picked it up to read but thankfully as with most romancecontemporary series the book reads find as a standalone novel as each in the series feature a new couple While I'm not a huge fan of jumping into a new relationship right after ending a serious one this book did a good job at making that not seem uite as bad to me Sutton obviously was in her previous relationship because it was what was expected of her than actually being in love With starting something up with Wyatt it's also done as the pretense of fake which I actually kind of like stories like this as it gives the characters time to develop feelings while being together Overall in the end with the story and characters and all that was involved I decided to give this one 35 stars and would look into reading by this author in the future I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalleyFor reviews please visit

It's no secret that Cottonbloom is one of my happy places so I'm happy to pack my bags and head off there at any given opportunity and this time around the series shifts focus from the Fournette siblings to the Abbott's four brothers with very different personalities who joint own the town's garage and vehicle restoration business “She was Southern femininity and grace And he was a grease monkey“ I'll be honest I was as nervous going into this after reading the blurb because I'm not a fan of the fauxmance trope But it uickly became apparent that my reservations were unfounded as whilst Wyatt and Sutton's romance may have an expiry date the countdown to it is a heated and heartfelt one “she’s going to rip your heart into little pieces and feed it to the gators before she goes back to her old life” What made this the story it was was the lack of drama and how the difference in social stature wasn't heavily played upon as with Sutton being the daughter of Cottonbloom's judge residing on the affluent side of the river and expected to marry someone of eual stature and Wyatt coming from the less wealthy side and being less polished that could have easily not been the case And this is precisely why I love Laura Trentham's writing because she knows how to create a couple to fall in love with; regardless of their situation Wyatt was perfect thoughtful and protective but not overbearing he wears his heart on his sleeve and was attractive all round Sutton was as frustrating as she was loveable and although early on I could understand her thinking towards the end I started to want to shake her Yet she brought many of the surprising moments in terms of character and there's no uestion that Wyatt brings out the best in her “I heard you’re good with yourwrench” All in all not my favourite couple of the series so far but still a strong addition and one that can be easily read if you're unfamiliar with the previous books I can't wait to see what Laura has in store for Wyatt's twin Jackson in When the Stars Come Out Copy received courtesy of St Martin's Press for an honest and unbiased opinion Stock Image

45 StarsI was so happy to be back in Cottonbloom Leave The Night On is definitely a great addition to the series New characters are introduced promising stories to tell and there are some cameo appearances of the Fournette family Laura Trentham’s writing is fantastic This author really has an impressive way of evolving her characters until you feel you’re reading about people you know Her characters are vibrant and easy to love I’ll make an exception for the villain of the Abbott familySutton Mize is the daughter of a prominent family from the posh Mississippi side of Cottonbloom Wyatt Abbott is a car mechanic from the working class Louisiana side When Sutton is betrayed by both her fiancé and her best friend Wyatt offers his help to get even with them Sutton and Wyatt are no strangers to each other but have never been on friendly terms partly due to Wyatt’s awkward attempts to attract Sutton’s attention when they were teenagers More separated them than just the river they never moved in the same circlesSutton feels vulnerable and hurt When she rather thoughtlessly tells her cheating fiancé that she is romantically involved with Wyatt they start a fake relationship they both consider as a short lived business arrangement I enjoyed the slow burn building of their relationship Sutton is irresistibly drawn to Wyatt by feelings that have nothing to do with logic or reason She enjoys his luminous personality his honesty and his kindness But she doesn’t trust easily and needs time to heal the pain from the betrayal Wyatt is willing to wait he isn’t one to back down from a challengeThis sweet and charming look at love set in a uirky small town was a delightful read and a definite keeper on my shelf I loved everything about this story the characters the storytelling the pace the perfect balance between emotions and humor The cast of secondary characters add depth and warmth to the story Wyatt’s twin aunts are something else and I can’t wait to read about the Abbott brothers although I’m not sure if Laura Trentham will manage to redeem the eldest one Ford Abbott If you enjoy small town romances I highly recommend this book If you haven’t started the series yet this story works perfectly well as a standaloneAn advanced copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley

35 Give ‘Em Something to Talk About StarsMy Wyatt SuttonWyatt is the mechanic extraordinaire Yes please I have a soft spot for dirty mechanics He works in his family owned garage with his 3 brothers He’s known Sutton since they were kids but they grew up on different sides of the river Wyatt has had a crush on Sutton since they were kids but she was from another world compared to his Sutton iswas engaged Without spoiling anything her heart is broken early in the book and Wyatt happens to be right there when it happens A uick bond is formed between them and to save face Sutton volunteers Wyatt to be her fake relationship to get back at her previous fiancé To Sutton Wyatt is dangerous Her feelings are honeyed and gooey and a little bit scary I loved the attraction between them Wyatt is the perfect blend of sexy good guy with an edge He is the adventure in life that Sutton needs It was a slow burn but worth it in the end “I heard you’re good with yourwrench” Her glace down as instinctive as her retreat had been She held her breath in the ensuing stillness “Out of all the tools available you didn’t pick screwdriver?” He bobbed in to lay a kiss on the tip of her nose “You’re so dang cute”I love me a good fake relationship story especially when it starts to become a little less fake I loved the small town southern feel of this book It was relaxing and these two were so adorable I had been wanting to read Laura Trentham for a while and I’m so glad I finally did ARC courtesy of publisher in exchange for an honest reviewFind me on

From book 1 I have been a fan of Cottonbloom Be it the Louisiana side or the Mississippi side I’ve enjoyed every single book Until now I still love the uirkiness of the towns The secondary characters really add to the book The Louisiana side is my favourite I’m sure to read but this just didn’t work for meI can’t uite pinpoint where it went wrong I’ve also had to pull on me grownup girl knickers and figure shit out why it didn’t work for me I’m going wiggle myself through this one I loved Wyatt Abbott hell I loved all the Abbotts well except Ford but when you read about him in this book you’ll understand why Wyatt is a superb subtle Hero He is a rock a pillar of strength and the author captured him in a fantastic light He is tortured but has never let that get in his way His family means everything to him Since he’s been a kid he has had a soft spot for Sutton But as teenage boys are they don’t show it the right way Sutton Mize a pillar of the community has been following the path that her parents set out for her The route of least existence until she finds out a betrayal of the two people closest to her Now somethings just aren’t that sure any I sympathised with her struggles at times but I found her negativity to be annoying and uite frankly I don’t like Sutton she ruined the book for me Always doing what others wanted her family etc The perfect daughter until she realises that she hasn’t been leading the life she wants The pushpull of the relationship was just too exhausting Nevertheless I will continue with the series as I love the Abbott brothers especially Mack Ford can go to hell for all I care

Favorite uotesThe advantage of being related to half the parish means that I have plenty of people to call on if I need help Of course the disadvantage is my dating pool is drastically smaller Unless I aspire to become a redneck jokeHyacinth could spout scripture from one side of her mouth while tippling moonshine with the otherThe gossip about her and Wyatt had legs like a Louisiana jackrabbitHe might not be invited to the governor’s mansion anytime soon but Hyacinth and Hazel had taken it upon themselves to domesticate them after a fashion He knew enough not to fart in public or eat with his fingersHe tensed while the woman’s gaze traveled the length of his body down to his black boots not in a sexual way but rather like she was sizing him like a female praying mantis before she devoured her mateMy ReviewDespite this being book number four in the series Leave The Night On was my first trip to Cottonbloom and I could kick myself for my lax in awareness I adored this charming and cleverly amusing story from beginning to end The main characters were endearing nuanced and absolutely adorable as a couple despite their inauspicious beginning Written from a dual POV the storyline was engaging humorous easy to follow and well plotted The main protagonists were a blue collar mechanic named Wyatt from the “swamp rat” side of town and a Junior Leaguer Judge’s daughter named Sutton who happened to have been Wyatt’s childhood crush The morning she pulled into his garage lead to a comical discovery that was life altering although initially devastating for Sutton I savored the comfortable and easy flow to the writing style as well as the uirky characters and their colorful phrases I want to go backward and read all the previous installments as well as every book this talented wordsmith has and will ever produce Laura Trentham has a new fangirl
