Ben Ripley enrolls in ski school where the slopes and the stakes get really steep in this follow up to the Edgar Award–nominated Spy School Spy Camp and Evil Spy SchoolThirteen year old Ben Ripley is not exactly the best student spy school has ever seen he keeps flunking Advanced Self Preservation But outside of class Ben is pretty great at staying. E ARC from Edelweiss Above the TreelineBen has survived SPYDER Murray Hill and his crush on Erica Hale in the first three books in this series and is now assigned a new mission Leo Chang a rich Chinese businessman seems to be up to no good and it is feared that bad things will happen when he is vacationing in Colorado on a ostensible ski vacation Since he dotes on his daughter Jessica Ben's mission is to befriend her and try to get information about her father's evil doings Erica is irritated that she is assigned to be Ben's handler but since a large group of students is going skiing it's like a big vacation Cyrus and Alexander go along to supervise and soon Ben is taking off on the slopes and having hot cocoa before the fire with Jessica There's also a lot of bugging of hotel rooms dangerous skiing and even an adventure in a helicopter An appearance for Mike is a surprise and there is a concern that he might be working for SPYDER The appearance by Murray Hill shouldn't be a surprise and Ben is able to get the mystery of Leo Chang solved and might even get the girl Strengths These are great spy fantasy books A little goofier than Alex Rider perhaps but my students can easily imagine that they are living Ben's life The romance with Erica is fabulous I adore that one of the things that makes her attractive to Ben is that she is such an accomplished spy The skiing details are brilliant and I'm glad that Mr Gibbs an avid skier himself chose to set this book on the slopesWeaknesses The character of Jessica seemed a bit uneven to me especially when it came to her use of English idioms Small uibble; my students won't notice What I really think Mr Gibbs has just been added to my list of authors who should have meals delivered to their families every day so that they never have to stop writing Always a good time when I get to read one of his books and such a relief knowing that he's not going to suddenly throw super sadness into his stories Love

All of her father’s secrets Jessica wants to go to ski school in the Rocky Mountains so a select few spy school students are going skiing too under cover of courseBen might not be able to handle a weapon or a pair of skis but he can make friends easy peasy That is until his best friend from home drops in on the trip and jeopardizes the entire missio. I think its a really good book and a lot of people should read it because it is a really action packed and in the books I read there are not really a lot of action The only thing that is holding it back though is the book is mushy and I don't like mush

Ben Ripley is thrilled to be officially called for his first field assignment He’s going to Colorado to learn to ski While there he needs to befriend a girl so he can get close to her father and figure out his evil plans However Ben soon realizes getting close to his target isn’t going to be as easy as he thought With the clock ticking can he save the day again? While the target audience might be middle graders this is a delightful read for anyone The story is strong the pace never lags and we get some fantastic complications and nail biting action scenes along the way The characters are fun as always and we get some good growth in a couple of them There’s plenty of humor as wellRead my full review at Carstairs Considers

I just read Spy Ski School and it held upI guessFirst of all as far as I'm concerned by the time a full scale series reaches its 4th book it usually begins to run out of that fuel that once drove the series and starts to become and generic and obvious that the author is mostly doing this for the money it'll make This is a far common case in series that don't NEED a seuel and stand out on there own with just one two or heck three books to tell a satisfying story After that the originality is lost and the series has to spend time on other things that seem jarring and strange for the series because it isn't like what the series has been like so far and you can tell the fabrication that has been done solely for the cash This isn't an attack on Stuart Gibbs and I certainly don't think he's a bad person for just trying to make money but jeez man PLEASE just let this series stop here before it becomes something wretched Unfortunately that doesn't look like it will be the casei feel like parts of this book are excerpts from fanfictions but just a little higher uality writing The attempt to form relationships and put them in situations that not only aren't gripping but also seem unnecessary and perhaps even fillerAND THAT ENDING UGH They shited out that ending even MORE rushed and stupidly than usual One of the reasons the last few chapters are just just terrible is because Murray now has a girlfriend character they just threw in there who is so incredibly awkward and UNBELIEVABLE She's just like holding them at gunpoint and acting genuinely friendly to them in this really creepy way It's truly baffling this character is I think i see what Stuart was going for but it did NOT turn out right Also Ben shows his stunning perceptiveness at the end Now usually I am able to suspend my sense of disbelief for these inevitable times at the end where he miraculously reveals the evil guy's plans but not this time nope Instead of impressing the reader it was WAY to superhuman and was too unbelievable of a pill to swallowThey emphasize the relationships between the character subplot way to much and it ends up taking up most of the book and getting slightly tedious And my god does the Ben Erica relationship feel straight out of a fanfiction AhgThere were some chapters that I liked a lot and the side characters aside from the main villain and his daughter are very good and even refreshing sometimesThe writing felt mostly professional and I did like the turn out with Mike or Matt or whatever his name was I'm way to tired to go check Unfortunately even that felt panderingAnd I'm giving this one a 510 and a 35

While content and character wise this isn't the best book it was a rather enjoyable read The plot was fast paced and fun and there were plenty of moments that I just needed to close the book and laugh There was a clear definition between good and bad characters and there wasn't really anything surprising about the plot I'm not saying it's predictable exactly but it didn't keep me guessing Most of the adults are extremely incompetent others seem stereotypical and a rare few feel like they're just there to move the story along Some of the characters felt like they were just there as a joke like every action was to get a laugh out of the reader Erica hasn't really had much development as a character There was a bit towards the end but I'd really like to see her character evolve in the next book Ben on the other hand has gone through some change He's still the same clumsy kid we met in Spy School but he's experienced Some characters from previous books popped up some for most of the book some for just a short chapter or two but I really wish Ashley and Nefarious would've made a cameo at least I loved them in Evil Spy School Overall Spy Ski School was another fun installment of Stuart Gibb's Spy School series I can't wait to see how he wraps it up in the next and final book

Spy Ski School was an okay read and was a longer read The book isn't that long but its around 350 pages The author didn't teach that many life lessons It was mostly about a spy named Ben Ripley that was trying to gather information about Leo Shang a Chinese billionaire businessman and potential nefarious mastermind with his sights set on the United States Ben must befriend Shang’s daughter Jessica at ski school it seems pretty easy enough but then his best friend from his hometown turns up unexpectedly and inadvertently threatens to ruin the entire plan and blow Ben’s cover I mostly liked then book because it had skiing involved and a mysterious spy theme When they got to a hotel in Colorado he had to fight out what bed he slept on and who he had to sleep with Since the book didn't have very many life lessons it wasn't an amazing read One part was when Ben had to rent a pair of ski boots and they were very tight on him One of his teachers asked if he was okay and he said his boots were tight Then when he started skiing he didn't do very well and it was funny to read about My favorite part was the ski part I just explained I would recommend this book to people ho like books about spies and skiing

13 year old Ben Ripley finally has a break of spy school not knowing the CIA already has other plans for him A billionaire and his daughter have booked a entire hotel out to go skiing for the first time Also the CIA suspects that this billionaire Leo Shang has something horrible up his sleeve A team of kids including Ben and Erica will have to go in the to same lessons as Leo Shang's daughter Jessica to get close to her farther to find out what this threat is I liked the drama between Erica her dad and her grandfather However I didn't like how Ben had a crush on Jessica and Erica but then his best friend also had a crush on him and it was really confusing If you liked Evil Spy School Spy School or Spy Camp you would like this book too
