A MOST UPSETTING TURNABOUTMiss April Wendover should have been supremely pleased with herself In an act of the sweetest revenge against the man who had wronged her family she had forced Lord Adam Glenville to agree to marry. What the did I read This was not a love story It could have been good although it was constructed slowly and in an older style but like some other reader said in a comment some things are simply unforgivable The justification is weak not that there could ever be a justification for rape And we are not talking about dobious consent sex here but actually the hero violently raped the heroine After that the author passed very uickly adding a few beneficial plot turns from presenting the heroine having nightmares as a result of trauma to her realising she is so in love with her husband I am sorry to say I saw disgusted and utterly dissapointed The ending was totally absurd

Really 45 stars Gosh this book swept me right off my feet I gotta get my thoughts straight here Okay Dorothy Mack is a new to me author and I might be forever ruined by her way of writing regency romance This has all the pluck and stolen glances and twists and turns you know you want in your regencies I tore through the end of this book Now there are going to be some who say the rape scene is a hard limit I honestly did not see it coming But there is adeuate time spent by the author with both characters acknowledging it Especially the man owning what a terrible thing he's done to his wife The scene itself is not gruesome nor explicit But I understand how any scene touching on that theme might well be too much for some readers And while I do think the book could have functioned just fine without that scene reaching to the point it did on the whole I haven't been swept off my feet Gone with the Wind style in a while Wow Ms Mack now belongs on my authors to read rack
