  1. says:

I am gradually coming to understand how the physicist Karen Barad and philosopher Deleuze has the power to shift the way we think about children and our intra actions with them Bronwyn Davies is a well known feminist academic who has a great reputation for her writing on educational issues In this her latest book she takes us into the Reggio inspired pre schools of Sweden and into her own community in Australia and through powerful stories talks us through some of the key Deleuzian concepts and how they impact on her thinking about practice and engagement with small children Her capacity to be fully engaged and moved by the children her demonstration of what listening really means is powerful and inspiring I would love to meet her She has helped me take some important steps forward in my own engagement with small children especially my grandsons and demonstrated how matter matters in those encounters The changes implied in this work is a seismic paradigm shift for most educators steeped in neo liberal agendas But for those already familiar with Reggio and their influence on early years and pre school education this book could deepen and extend their understanding to a new level I shall be reading it again and again
